  • Abstract
Scattering from an infinite circular cylinder is investigated using a method of computation which is a direct extension of the Mie series approach to the problem of the uniform cylinder. This approach results in a second-order recurrence relation among the series coefficients, for the solution of which two methods are used. These are an iteratively applied regular perturbation expansion relative to the parameter alpha , and a Miller-type recursive algorithm which is applied from both ends of the recurrence toward the middle. Results obtained using this methodology are presented. In particular, it is shown that scattering from a capacitive surface is dominated by the presence of Elliot-type creeping waves where mod Z/sub B/ mod is small.<>
