Abstract
A solution for scattering from a circular dielectric cylinder, partially covered by perfect electric conductor, due to the field from a line source or an incident plane wave is given. The analysis is carried out for the transverse electric and transverse magnetic to z cases, where z is parallel to the cylinder axis. The analysis is based on applying a field equivalence theorem to divide the problem into two regions: outside and inside the dielectric cylinder. The fields in the equivalent problem for the region outside the cylinder are produced by the incident source and an equivalent sheet of magnetic current on the dielectric interface. The field in the inside region is produced by the negative of the magnetic current sheet on the dielectric interface. Enforcing the continuity of the tangential magnetic field across the interface results in an integral equation for unknown equivalent magnetic current, which is solved by using Galerkin´s method.<>
