Abstract
Because of the complex geometry shapes and structures of mould cavities, identifying the regions that should be eroded by EDM has become a time-consuming and error-prone work for toolmakers. A fuzzy approach to automatically select optimized processing method for manufacturing features is proposed in this paper. Some examples are also included for discussion. The results showed that this approach can accelerate the electrode design process and provide a way for integrating engineering knowledge into electrode design.
