Abstract :
A new secondary surveillance radar antenna for air traffic control has been developed. Its small size and light weight make it ideal for portable applications. An array of 17 columns, each 2 dipoles high, forms the radiating element. Two channels, a sum channel and an integrated difference and sidelobe suppression (SLS) channel, are provided. A broad elevation pattern, and a -25 dB sidelobe in azimuth, with ample sidelobe coverage by the difference/SLS channel, make this antenna an ideal package for the 14"/spl times/160"/spl times/10" size. The design and predicted performance of the antenna are covered, and actual test data are included.
