Abstract :
Summary form only given. The performance of a 4-GHz delayed differential link was measured, using a 1.55-/spl mu/m SDL distributed feedback (DFB) laser and a UTP dual-output modulator. Present polarization couplers only have isolation of -20 -30 dB between the polarization states. The large optical path length difference in combination with this residual cross talk leads to an optical filter, which causes frequency to amplitude noise conversion.
