Abstract :
Dynamic changes are taking place in the field of engineering, manufacturing, management and educational sectors. There is no doubt that we should make every effort to quickly adjust and adapt to these changes. The best way of achieving this is to identify those `key technologies´ which are likely to have most impact on the economic progress of our nation. COMADEM has been identified by many industrialists and educationalists as a key technology area to educate and train both experienced and less experienced personnel. COMADEM is becoming a fast-growing, beneficial, holistic problem-solving multidiscipline and is chiefly concerned with anticipating changes and to fully prepare for it effectively and efficiently at all levels. The author briefly argues the case for such a discipline and presents some education and training programmes being currently offered at the Birmingham Polytechnic
