Abstract :
An ad hoc network is a group of mobile wireless nodes that cooperatively form a network among themselves without any fixed infrastructure. Most of these devices run on lithium-ion rechargeable batteries. These batteries have a lifetime of few hours of active lifetime. To improve this crucial factor, researcher tried to optimized power consumption in every aspect of mobile devices. Power consumption can be optimized or saved at device level, by controlling transmission power of packet delivery from one node to another node or by using optimized power aware routing protocol. In this paper we have studied a different existing power saving techniques and given a comparative analysis of these techniques.
