Abstract
Discusses part of a long-term co-operative project between an industrial collaborator and Birmingham Polytechnic concerned with the development of a computer controlled pressworking and supervisory system. An important part of the realisation of such a system is the creation of a low cost high noise immunity communication system. The communication system must enable the supervisory system, as a whole, to be retro-fitted to various small batch-work production lines. The paper looks at this computer controlled communication network
