Abstract
The MUGEN multiprocessor system comprises 32 microprocessors which are clustered into 4 groups, each containing 8 processors. The authors report on a system software and the parallel languages (para-C) developed on MUGEN, which assist application programmers. By using these tools, the authors have evaluated the performance of MUGEN, which uses the Livermore loops. A comparison of the efficiencies for single instruction multiple data (SIMD)- and multiple instruction multiple data (MIMD)-type processing on MUGEN is also reported
