Semantic Web Services for Smart Environments

In this work we propose a model for intelligent responsive environments based on semantic web services, in which services are located in distributed devices and the interaction between devices and the environment takes into account the dynamics of contextual information and the availability of services. In the proposed model, all functionalities in the environment are provided as structures of services, which are automatically discovered and executed to support the users in specific tasks. We illustrate our ideas through a prototype implementation in our university library, in which location aware information is provided to users to help them locate items of their interest.
