Abstract :
An active input power factor correction technique based on variable turn-on time is presented and analyzed for single phase boost converters operating with discontinuous current conduction. Equal area criterion is applied for discontinuous current operation. Simulation and experimental results obtained with laboratory prototype shows that supply power factor remains nearly unity for any variations in the load.
