Fault current indication and remote operation of overhead line switch disconnectors

Fault current indicators (FCIs) have been used successfully in South Wales on overhead power lines. Two ranges of FCI are used, one is permanently fixed to the overhead line support and the other, which is portable, is fitted during the course of fault investigation and removed when the fault position is found.
