    A hydrogen thyratron is a high voltage, high peak current, repetitive switch. When triggered with a positive pulse of a few hundred volts, it will switch thousands of amps very accurately in absolute time at high repetition rates. The author describes the development of hydrogen thyratrons and various applications including particle accelerators, linear accelerators and pulsed lasers
