Abstract
To predict system behaviour under any possible operating conditions requires adequate modelling of the equipment installed on the power system and the capability to make changes which may occur in service to the parameters of that equipment, to its loading and to its connectivity. At the core of any program are mathematical techniques used to solve the simultaneous equations relating nodal voltages and currents to the system admittances. These use matrix methods that take advantage of sparsity of the network and current injection methods to take account of nonlinearities in system parameters without continuous changes to the system model. The authors discuss the modelling techniques for wind generator shaft torque fluctuations, generators sharing prime movers, and generator controls
