The red-tide occurrences are critical issues in some costal zones of China. It causes a threat of the coastal fish/shellfish aquaculture and economic loss. In order to minimize harms caused by red tides, especially by neurotoxins such as a Saxitoxin (STX). In this paper, a new approach to detect STX by Surface plasmon resonance (SPR) was proposed to in-situ determine STX concentration. Based on the mathematical model of multi-prism coupled SPR by Maxwell´s Equations and Fresnel Equation, the parameter of a resonant angle was evaluated by the different concentration of Saxitoxin in the case of 632.8nm wavelength. The approach demonstrated high sensitivity and better selectivity for monitoring Saxitoxin by a SPR numerical simulation method.
