As a kind of marine organism, marine molluscs is subject to the threat of settlement of marine fouling organisms inevitably. However, the biofouling on shell surfaces varies with different kinds of molluscs. It is therefore very important to research the correlation between the surface morphology and antifouling. An effective method of measuring the surface morphology of shells was proposed in this paper. The surface morphology of Chlamys nobilis was separated by two-dimensional biorthogonal wavelet transform, and the radial ribs and grooves at different positions of Chlamys nobilis has been measured. One-way analysis of variance method was employed to compare the surface characteristics of different positions. The measuring results indicated that the surface characteristics at different positions of Chlamys nobilis have no significant difference.
