Abstract :
TELEINFO (telephonic access to information) is a subsystem that connects an incoming telephone line to the application system on the Unisys A-Series mainframes. Database access is not direct but through an existing application software such as the Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRPII) System, Global Financial System, etc. The authors demonstrate how text-to-speech technology coupled with current telephone operation can be used to increase productivity, make information retrieval easy and improve the customer services. A description is also given of the application of TELEINFO software to manufacturing resource planning
