Abstract
The author presents some aspects of an existing tunnel monitoring and control system and describes the facilities necessary to satisfy the specific requirements to meet the criteria for traffic tunnels in a high density urban expressway. The system has been implemented in two related tunnels each consisting of two bores with four lanes per bore for the short tunnel and three lanes per bore for the long tunnel. An important aspect to be considered during the design was the presence of slip-roads, two in the short tunnel and six in the long tunnel
