Abstract :
An analysis of permanent magnet synchronous (PMS) motors is carried out to establish a basis for high performance control of the motors. It is then used to formulate vector control and direct torque control of the machines. This provides an insight into the advanced AC motor control methods in general and into vector control and direct torque control in particular, providing new opportunities for proposing novel AC motor control methods.
