Abstract :
This paper presents the energy function of a simple power system equipped with a Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM). The parameter on STATCOM is modeled on energy function. The proposed energy function is then used to determine critical clearing time (CCT) of the system with a STATCOM. The simulation results is indicated that a STATCOM can enhance the transient stability of single machine infinite bus (SMIB) system.
