Abstract :
The author describes the design and implementation of the Paknet network, which now operates as a nationwide X.25 network using radio as the local communications medium. The main uses for the network currently revolve around the security industry where it is used to signal burglar alarms, and point of sale applications where credit card purchases can be authorised on line. Many other applications in the areas of telemetry and two-way messaging are developing
