Abstract :
Increasing demand for wireless mobile communications coupled with the limited spectrum resources has motivated investigation into alternative efficient and flexible location management solutions. The paper presents a distributed multi-agent mechanism that was developed for supported the location management scheduling in a cost-effective fashion. The mechanism consists of a collection of problem-solving agents, and there are three key modules including knowledge source, blackboard system, and control engine are built in this mechanism. Performance comparisons between our mechanism and other schemes are derived from a real traffic modeling framework. Results show that the proposed mechanism significantly reduces the time for call setup and increases the paging efficiency in wireless mobile communications
