Abstract
Natural and induced space environments have important deleterious effects on space systems. Troublesome environments and their effects are summarised. The environment is extremely diverse in nature and the effects it causes are similarly varied. Charged particles are present at energies ranging from around the eV level up to MeVs and beyond. In addition, various neutral environments cause significant problems. All these environments have to be considered for new technologies such as microstrip antennas
