Abstract :
A general purpose computer aided control system design package called SIMART has been developed from the available control theory. Equipped with sound real-time and simulation capabilities, it is intended to serve as a control engineering framework as well as a learning basis for advanced control techniques. As a key feature, SIMART supports a structured approach to advanced control, which greatly simplifies each design step, swiftly leading to feasible controllers. SIMART has already been successfully used for a number of applications, both on industrial and laboratory plants. One of these applications, involving a flexible system, is reported at the end of the paper
