Abstract :
Addresses results obtained from development and piloted evaluations of an advanced flight path management (FPM) system prototype and an architecture for its incorporation into the US Army special operations aircraft (ASOA) integrated avionics system (IAS). Prototype implementation, for piloted evaluation in the Flight Simulation Laboratory, made use of IBM PS/2 Model 80 processors with i860 accelerator cards, token rings, and MIL-STD-1553B data buses. The software environment included the IBM C language and the AIX operating system. Results presented include replanning response times, path tracking, data bus requirements, and required processor throughput
