Abstract :
We mainly discuss minimal positive realizations of nth-order rational transfer functions of continuous-time linear time-invariant single-input-single-output (SISO) systems and provide conditions for these systems to have positive realizations of the same order. The results obtained can aid in deciding the minimal compartment number of a compartmental system, finding a representation for a phase type (PH) distribution. One numerical example is employed to validate the results.
