Abstract
A series of parametric experiments which were conducted to examine several process variables and their effect upon the production of quartz crystals by hydrothermal growth are discussed. The experiments were designed with the aid of a computer software package which allowed for the examination of not only the effects of individual variables but the interactions among them. Some of the advantages and disadvantages of the designed experiments are discussed
