Abstract
Summary form only given. An optoelectronic wavelength converter operating at any bit rate up to 2.5 Gbit/s, with good sensitivity and a large dynamic range of -26 dBm and 20 dB respectively, based on a temperature-tuned DFB wavelength selectable semiconductor laser (WSL) has been recently demonstrated. In conclusion, novel WDM sources with better wavelength precision and stability, and providing selectable wavelength operation, will be used in new WDM transmission and networking systems.
