Title :
Performance assessment of digital teleprotection systems [for power networks]

Abstract :
There is currently no international standard which directly addresses the performance aspects of power network wideband teleprotection systems which are designed for command transfer, whereas standards exist for narrowband command systems and analogue comparison systems (wideband and narrowband). In the absence of a standard to which manufacturers can claim compliance, power utilities need to ensure that there is sufficient performance analysis and practical testing of equipment undertaken to establish the high level of confidence required for the application of wideband teleprotection systems which carry out the important function of command transfer. This paper therefore outlines methods of assessing the performance of these systems
