Abstract
In this paper, we describe turbulence control in the two-dimensional complex Ginzburg-Laudau equation by using a local heterogeneity. The heterogeneity is introduced by changing the linear frequency of the local area. It is found that the heterogeneity acts as a peacemaker and gives rise to stable traveling waves. Finally, the spiral turbulence is eliminated by the traveling waves. The convenience and high control efficiency of this method are emphasized, and the forming mechanism of the traveling wave is intuitively understood.
