Abstract :
Describes the development of an analysis tool used to determine a radio´s operational performance in a multi-radio cosite environment. Using a Monte-Carlo simulation, the cosite analysis platform simulation program (CAPS) evaluates a receiver´s performance as a function of radio-related parameters such as receiver/transmitter characteristics, individual operator message statistics, hop rates, frequency management techniques, as well as platform-related parameters such as antenna configuration, isolation, `rusty bolts´ effects, and characteristics of other support equipment including filters, couplers and amplifiers. The radio and equipment databases in CAPS are based on extensive laboratory measurements. CAPS identifies the major sources of interference (i.e. receiver desensitization/crossmodulation, transmitter broadband noise, intermodulation distortion products, etc.) and helps to facilitate the development of cost-effective solutions
