Abstract :
Some of the unique features of a novel indoor bi-polar near-field measurement scanner, which has recently been completed at UCLA, are highlighted. Among the topics to be presented for the bi-polar near-field technique are: (a) bi-polar near-field concept, (b) mechanical implementation of a unique bi-polar scanner, (c) transformation techniques to the far field using various mathematical algorithms, (d) diagnostic and microwave holographic capabilities, (e) results of recent measurements, (f) inter-range measurement comparisons, etc. The bi-polar configuration consists of an antenna under test (AUT) mounted to a rotary positioner which rotates about one axis and a probe antenna mounted to a probe arm which rotates about a second axis. The bi-polar implementation results in planar near-field data collected on concentric rings with data samples located at the intersection with radial arcs
