Abstract :
The problem of time gating antenna measurement is addressed with a novel theoretical approach and experimental verification. The proposed theory has provided a framework that can be used to explain the time gating process in antenna pattern measurement satisfactorily. The results from both computer simulations and experiments have shown the consistency of the theory. It is found from this new theory that the physical dimension of the AUT and the gate width used in the measurement have strong influence on the quality of the measured pattern. It is however believed that careful consideration of measurement parameters will ensure effective utilisation of the technique
