Abstract :
Describes a software system that can assist the operator of a network system control center in choosing optimal locations for node deployments in Army communications systems. Using this software, the operator will realize significant improvement in his ability to redeploy existing nodes and their associated antenna sets, or to deploy new nodes. Some of today´s control center systems are able to calculate the propagation losses between transmitter and receiver antennas. The electronic warfare environment makes the problem of determining the optimal node location much more difficult to solve. The solution can best be found using some form of trial and error. Since the problem is quite complex, trial and error solution methods must be implemented by using advanced simulation techniques in combination with human judgement. This is the approach implemented by the node location simulation decision aid discussed
