Abstract
The use of radar absorbing materials (RAMs) on the surface of PEC scatterers to reduce their radar cross section or to suppress coupling to local objects, is receiving growing interest. To model their effectiveness numerical techniques are required to solve the associated electromagnetic equations. The difficulties associated with modelling such problems, particularly when the structure has dimensions in the resonance region were discussed by Medgyesi-Mitschang and Wang (1989) and are associated with the inhomogeneities of the scatterer and the concentration of the electromagnetic fields in the layer of RAM
