Abstract
Transmit antenna designs for radio systems used for video distribution applications in the millimetre wave region have been established which give optimum coverage areas and make efficient use of the available spectrum. A specific design of wide beamwidth sector coverage antenna have been identified which provides a circular coverage area with the transmitter sited on the periphery of the area for the frequency bands from 28 to 60 GHz. Examples of transmit horn antennas used to provide circular coverage areas for video distribution applications are described. Further applications could occur in the 40.5 to 42.5 GHz band which has been allocated by the Radiocommunications Agency of the DTI for multichannel TV broadcasting as a supplement to cable systems
