Abstract :
In this paper, we will discuss the possibilities, functionalities and limitations of Microprocessor System Hardware Monitors. We will provide a comparison survey of their main functions, depict some weaknesses and give an overview of what possibilities they provide for the end-user. We will also discuss OpenBSD´s sysctl Hardware Sensors framework, and describe our recent contributions to the addressing scheme and underpinnings of the framework.
