Abstract :
The authors focus on a crank-line antenna located in free space, avoiding the use of a dielectric substrate. The antenna is backed by a perfectly conducting plane, (ground plane). The current distribution on the crank-line antenna is obtained using the method of moments, and the radiation characteristics are investigated. The effect of the antenna height above the ground plane on the radiation characteristics is also investigated. It is found that gain enhancement is realised by gradually increasing the antenna height above the ground plane. The comparison of the gain between two cases, with and without a gradual increase in the antenna height, is presented
