Abstract :
Telecom Italia´s National Optical Backbone is evolving toward a 40G Photonic Network based on ROADM technology. This evolution allows CAPEX and OPEX savings. Further steps toward a 100G Photonic Backbone is motivated by additional savings. To get this result it is essential to evolve (and not to substitute) the 40G Network into a 100G ones.
