            Abstract : 
In many applications, microstrip patch antennas are covered by a dielectric superstrate to protect them from environmental hazards. It is well-known that the dielectric cover has the effect of reducing the resonant frequency of the antenna. While curves illustrating this effect for specific sets of parameters are available in the literature, no CAD formula capable of predicting the resonant frequency for a wide range of parameters has been developed. The paper presents such a formula for the TM01 mode of a rectangular patch with dielectric cover
