Abstract :
The author describes a measurement procedure for studies of propagation of millimetre-waves over short ranges and though dispersed materials. The procedure uses high density distributions of particles in an open resonator system in such a way that effects basic to scattering and propagation may be studied in relation to closely observed particle shapes and distributions. Specific areas where the laboratory measurement could provide a useful contribution are: (1) prediction of the attenuation created by particles of material of any known dielectric constant; (2) studies of the effect of particles of mixed composition, particularly where one constituent is water; and (3) studies of the effect of nonuniform and time varying distribution densities
