Abstract
A lawyer´s perspective on some of the issues which Japanese and US parties considering a joint venture or other strategic partnership in the computing field are likely to confront is given. Emphasis is on common regulatory and other legal issues (primarily arising under US law), with particular attention to issues which raise timing considerations. Areas where the perspectives of typical Japanese and American business persons may differ as a result of different approaches to the same issue in their respective countries are also pointed out.<>
