Abstract
The permanent magnet motor (PM) has become increasingly popular for many applications. PM motor drives require a rotor position sensor. Sensorless techniques for estimating rotor position from measurements of voltage and current have been widely investigated. We proposed a novel sensorless control system for the PM motor drive without using the position estimation. The system can be easily constructed without using any motor parameters. The system works well over the wide speed control range from low speed to high speed. The robustness about the motor parameters is the most excellent features of the system because the control system can be constructed without using any motor parameters. In this paper, we describe the principle of operation of the proposed sensorless control scheme for the PM motor drive, and show the implementation of the system. We show some experimental results to verify the feasibility of the proposed control system.
