Advanced metalclad switchgear equipment

The authors explain how continuously increasing demands are imposed on medium voltage switchgear. Both SF₆ and modern air insulated switchgear meet these demands. A new development in the category of air-insulated switchgear is introduced here, which exhibit interesting features in the case of a cubicle as well as for the newly developed vacuum circuit breaker. A description of an integrated power system control and protection system with promising characteristics shows that a substation can be described as completed only when it includes a suitable control and monitoring system
