Abstract
It is very important to develop a high power klystron with the frequency of 700 MHz, output power of 1 MW and efficiency of over 65% for the future cleaner nuclear energy system. In this paper, the art state of low frequency and high efficiency klystron is reviewed and the design and calculating results for two kinds of klystrons, single-beam and multi-beam klystron, are presented. The research shows that multi-beam klystron have some advantages, such as further enhancing efficiency, lowering operating voltage, and reducing the volume and weight of the tube which will promote the development of the cleaner nuclear energy system
