Abstract :
The variety of the systems installed in the substations, the shortage of available information, and the constantly increasing complexity of the network led to the setting up of a work team with the mission of defining an efficient tool for the Brussels Regional Transmission Centre. Two objectives were laid down: to update the dispatching centre in Schaerbeek, and to equip the substations with systems that would facilitate control and maintenance. The modernization of the dispatching centre in Schaerbeek was completed in 1989. It was decided to equip the substations with a numerical control system, completed with an additional automatic device for network restoration. The authors discuss the operation of the network and describe the substation control system, its operation and its advantages
