Abstract :
So far in China tens of millions of kWh meters have been read manually. Utilities are looking for alternatives to labour-intensive manual meter reading for a long time. The automatic meter-reading system (AMRS) by mobile radio is a new method of automatic measurement and a new way of management which fits to Chinese conditions. The authors describe the principle idea, composition, characteristic, function, cost, and testing results of AMRS and discuss some technical problems encountered
