Abstract :
A detailed analysis and development of the d-q equations for a five phase synchronous reluctance machine including the third harmonic of the air-gap are presented. The resulting equations are compared with the equations in the natural (abc) system. Simulation traces are used to confirm the model. The developed equations are compared to the experimental results and the similarities and discrepancies identified.<>
