Abstract :
A novel VVVF inverter system for a DC electric car has been developed. A description is presented of the configuration, control method and test results of this system. This inverter system consists of four three-phase transistor inverters series connected at their inputs, four induction motors connected respectively with their outputs, and chopper circuits connected with their input. In this system, each motor is controlled individually by each inverter. Driving the motors individually improves the re-adhesion control performance during slipping or skidding and makes the maintenance of the wheels easier.<>
