Abstract
Photovoltaic (PV) arrays are always assembled based on centralized, string and multi-string technology. These complex configurations of PV arrays and non-dependent maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithms based on PV arrays but not PV modules lead to the low output power efficiency of PV arrays. In view of the above questions, this paper analyzes the output characteristics of PV arrays under different kinds of configurations and conditions of illumination first, finds the connections between the configurations and output power efficiency of PV arrays, gives the optimal design rules of the structure of PV arrays, then proposes a novel structure of PV array.
